چکیده
BACKGROUND AND AIM: Better management of financial resources provided by the government-based insurance system is one important challenges in administration hospitals. The aim this study was to compare videothoracoscopic surgery and open thoracotomy regarding cost hospital stay. METHODS: Eighty-eight patients who underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) or for operable (stage IA–IIIA) non-small cell lung cancer were analyzed retrospectively. general treatment, operation, stay these compared. RESULTS: A total 48 lobectomies, 33 wedge resections, 2 segmentectomies, 5 pneumonectomies analyzed. Fifty-eight (65.9%) VATS resection, 30 (34.1%) had resection via thoracotomy. There no statistically significant difference terms gender, age, pulmonary function test between groups. postoperative stay, intensive care unit higher compared with (p=0.006 vs p=0.02). operation operated lower costs (p=0.026 p=0.014). When separately, lobectomy than that thoracotomy; however, not (p=0.114). CONCLUSIONS: are also leads a reduced should be considered gold standard resectional need lobectomy, segmentectomy, resection.

Video-assisted thoracic surgery lobectomy for lung cancer is associated with less immunochemokine disturbances than thoracotomy.
OBJECTIVE Major surgery is immunosuppressive and could have an impact on postoperative tumor immunosurveillance and recurrence in cancer patients. Low circulating levels of insulin growth factor binding protein (IGFBP)-3 have been linked to advance prostate and the development of colonic cancers. This prospective study examined the early postoperative circulating levels of IGFBP-3, matrix metal...

متن کاملThoracotomy versus VATS: is there an optimal approach to treating pneumothorax?
INTRODUCTION The 2010 British Thoracic Society guidelines recommend that a weighted decision be made by clinicians with regard to surgical intervention for pneumothorax as the video assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) approach is better tolerated by patients but carries a higher rate of recurrence (5% vs 1%). METHODS Overall, 163 patients underwent surgical intervention for pneumothorax at...

BACKGROUND Video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) lobectomy is a standard treatment for lung cancer. This study retrospectively compared long-term outcomes after VATS lobectomy versus lobectomy via open thoracotomy for clinical stage IA non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). METHODS From July 2002 to June 2012, 160 patients were diagnosed with clinical stage IA NSCLC and underwent lobectomy. Of ...
